What a great day it was for an Ice cream Social! The weather was warm and sunny! There was a great musician which I heard play a banjo. I wasn't able to hear his entire show but really enjoyed what I did get to listen to! The next time I got a chance to look there was someone riding a unicycle. I wish I had been able to watch his show as it looked very interesting! Of course there were other intriguing things to at this event which I didn't get a chance to look at.

At our booth we had children, teens, and adults getting a temporary airbrush tattoo. We applied several different designs but we were flattered by the children that sat in our chair, telling us about the last tattoo that they got from us! We hope to give them many more!

Chamber of Commerce Networking Review

Recently we attended a 'Breakfast Break' being hosted by a local Chamber of Commerce. These networking meetings are open to everyone and are free. It was held from 7:30 to 9 on a Tuesday morning. The description stated that each business would have 30 seconds to give a bio and estimated 80 to 100 people would be there so bring enough cards.

The room was set up with chairs in four groups, two on each side of the room, facing the middle of the room. We signed in and directed towards a side room with muffins, doughnuts, fruit and drinks. Business owners dressed in suits mingled quietly in groups of two or three. There were only four people not in business attire. Two were wearing matching white polo shirts from the same company and us, wearing purple tie-dye shirts. You could say we stuck out.

About 8 am they called order to start the meeting. There were so many people there that some stood on the sidelines.  Some of the businesses which I can think of right off the top of my head that attended many financial advisors, several realtors, one other entertainer besides us, a modeling agency, communications, an Undercoverwear consultant house painters, a Mommy Ezine, a restaurant, a bank, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Sam's Club. 

It was interesting learning about the businesses which I had no idea existed. Some were quiet and couldn't be heard. Others were funny which made it hard for the next person to follow with no humor. Still a few had brochures or catalogs which they thumbed thru as they gave their speech.

Did I walk away with business today? No. Did I make any contacts to enrich my business in the future? I think so. Will I go back next month? Definitely!

The trick is to do something in your 30 seconds which is memorable. Draw attention to yourself. Be different. Create a reason for as many of these business people to book you today!

Now I know what to expect at the next networking meeting and so do you!

Business Expo Review

In trying to find this expo we discovered that the signs were way too small and there were none on the main roads. The weather was awesome, plenty of parking with a much bigger crowd than I expected!

There were alpacas and a bounce house to greet you. Vendors with a table that I can think of right off hand would be as follows:
3 or 4 banks
2 newspapers
2 insurance companies
2 restaurants
2 tanning booths
2 chiropractors
coffee shop
printer
fudge shop
window blinds
house cleaning
Red Cross
Chamber of Commerce
building contractor
interior decorator
Boy Scouts
YMCA
dentist
winery
Radio Shack
home entertainment
fair
security
quilting
investments
radio station
and a band was playing.....

We met plenty of people with a couple showing an interest in airbrush tattoos. We got a much better response than I had expected since we didn't have a table at the show.

In my opinion this show has the potential to become much bigger than it is. However, There are three areas that I think could be improved upon. One, they would need a bigger venue. The main room was full of vendors. There were also vendors on a beautiful huge side porch that was big enough to have a vendor on each side with plenty of room for a walkway up the middle! The porch is longer than the building and did not lack a vendor to fill it. Two, the other thing this show needs is signs! More of them and bigger! There was one flyer posted in town that I saw. I saw no advertising in the newspaper or on TV. So, where did the crowd come from? There were more people there than at the last gig I did! Three, the last improvement they would need is lighting in the parking lot. When the expo ended it was dark with no lights in the parking lot at all! This made it difficult to find your car but also dangerous to walk to it.

Most every table was nicely skirted to the floor and had an assortment of fall decor including real mums! There were a few tables that were not skirted or manned, full of free brochures that I stopped the longest of all the people I saw to look at these tables. What does that tell you?

Each booth had a raffle to enter for a free something. Prizes ranged from gift cards from their company to gift cards from home depot and house cleaning. They allowed you to insert your business card instead of filling out each form. If you are thinking about getting a booth at an expo like this, it was expected for you to have a raffle for a door prize. I'm not sure if it is that way at every expo since I have never gone to one before. Another expectation is freebies! I wouldn't suggest pens. I would put some time, thought, and research into this in order to be different. I came home with more pens than I can wrap a fist around. However, I got one toothbrush, one change purse, and a goodie bag with tanning lotion, flip flop note pad, shot glass, and palm tree stir sticks! These are the businesses I will remember! If you go, how will you make sure the customer remembers you?

May 16th School Carnival

Airbrush Gypsy was found on May 16th at a school carnival! Children lined up for their Temporary Airbrush Tattoos. They were full of smiles and happy to find a favorite design. Some of the popular designs picked were orca whales, flowers, and flaming baseball or basketball. Several of the children could be heard giggling while the Airbrush Tattoo was being applied.
There were several other activities for the children to also enjoy but Airbrush Gypsy was so busy we didn't get to check out the other booths. One thing is for sure. Fun was had by one and all!

Kids Festival

Last weekend we had two shows. One was a Open House at a Day Care.  This was held inside and the kids loved getting airbrush tattoos!
The other was a Kids Fest. The weather was not the best being a little chilly and wet from an earlier rain then it started sprinkling and the wind picked up.
Both kids and adults waited in line to get an Airbrush Tattoo. Some getting several! There really wasn't one design that was the favorite. We did several butterflies and flowers.
There were plenty of other things to do including the inflatables, a petting zoo, a band, and several other booths that we didn't get to check out.
Even though the weather wasn't very nice both the kids and parents had a good time!

Promote Your Entertainment Business Tip ~ Signs

Awhile ago we got signs for our truck. We were very excited and not sure we would get any work from them. But getting work from them wasn't the only reason we got them. We got the signs to have a more professional look. Plus, we do private parties in homes that are secluded. People see the signs on the truck so they know it's us and they can feel more secure.

The fourth day we had them, our daughter drove the truck to work. A guy came into her office asking who had the truck with the Airbrush Tattoos signs?

A week later the phone rang. A lady inquired about a birthday party. After giving her all of the information I asked how she found us. She started laughing telling me about this truck going down the highway with Airbrush Tattoos signs that her family chased to get our name, number, and web site.

Another week another call that got our number from the signs.

The other night we stopped to get gas and the cashier started questioning us. Yes, I know I was bad and didn't have a business card in the truck but this guy didn't bat an eye. He just got out a piece of paper and wrote down our name, number, and web site!

Yesterday, our neighbor whom we haven't met yet, sent us an email inquiring about a birthday party for next Friday night. We got that job!

We have had 5 people take our information from those signs! That is 5 more than we would have had if we didn't have the signs. Not to mention one party so far!

Ashland Street Parties Hosted Library Fundraiser with Airbrush Gypsy!

One could find good food, music and entertainment at the library fundraiser hosted by Ashland Street Parties held this past May. The band provided just the right tunes to keep folks dancing the night away. When not dancing, those with children watched while the kids played on the inflatable slide and those of any age were found at the airbrush tattoo booth.

The weather was perfect for a party! Friends came to see each other once again at this fundraiser which is held three times a year. People also come looking for a favorite vendor to enjoy their services any chance they get. While waiting in line at Airbrush Gypsy Temporary Airbrush Tattoos booth someone talked about the airbrush tattoo that they got last year. Another asked a friend about having Airbrush Gypsy come to a birthday party that they were planning. Dragons, roses, skulls and butterflies as airbrush tattoos was reflected in smile after smile walking out of the booth.

We will be back for the next library fundraiser in July. Hope to see you there!
